I was sitting outside on the deck after work yesterday. It had been so long since I took time to look at the sky above me and listen to the gentle adhkar of the trees. Allah (subhanahu wat’ala) presents us with his messages and signs through means both apparent and subtle (ظَاهِرَةً وَبَاطِنَةً), but how intently do we listen? How frequently do we think to reflect in between our haste for the shahawat of this world? As I was sitting and watching the trees, I tried to imagine to greenery in Jannah. My heart feels so alive and refreshed when I’m around water or trees, and subhanAllah, among the many attractions in Jannah will be the plants, so lush and abundant, and rivers that flow endlessly. The description of Jannah is simply irresistible .. it’ll be the biggest party ever, amazing food, BBQ, weddings, friends, clothes, jewelry, best views, waterfalls. In contrast, the description of Jahannum is quite disturbing. And it’s meant to be that way so we take serious precautions to avoid it. May Allah protect us and help us stay away from anything that brings us near it.
Allah knows what the hearts yearn for .. what brings peace and tranquility to the soul.
Our home is Jannah. We ask Allah to return us to our home and to help us so we do not lose our way back home. We ask Allah for a successful journey, one that protects us from our own weaknesses of delusion, ostentation, conceitedness, and ignorance.
