Abu Hurairah (ra) narrated that Rasulullah (salallahu ‘alayhi wasallam) said, “Whosoever recites Surah ad-Dhukhan every night, seventy thousand angels will ask forgiveness for him.” [Tirmidhi]
When one is aware of the content of this surah it cannot help but act as a nightly cleanser of one’s faith. We are very concerned about removing the minutest amount of dirt and filth from our faces and bodies, with expensive facials and body scrubs, but what about the dirt that accumulates on our souls and on our eeman? This filth needs to be regularly removed too.
Although the whole Qur’an is for recitation, not just portions of it, yet the surahs that Allah (subhana wa ta’ala) associates particular reward with and which were recited at particular times by the Prophet (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam), must definitely contain certain key reminders for us that are cleansers of our faith.
Reaffirming and cleansing our faith before we go to sleep each night is important, so that if our time of death comes during our sleep, we die in a state of eeman. In addition, who would not like to have 70,000 angels praying for his/her forgiveness?
