Signs of Sincerity


Some signs of sincerity:

  • Having the proper intention before beginning a task
  • Perfecting ones duties and actions in private and in public
  • To welcome advice and criticism from others
  • To be constantly mindful of one’s shortcomings
  • Wishing well for others
  • To feel that your contribution is minimal compared to others
  • To love performing Fajr, Ishaa’, and night prayers
  • Feeling shy of accepting too much credit for something
  • Acknowledging others hard work before your own
  • Helping out behind the scenes
  • Not mentioning your deed openly or repeatedly
  • Being skeptical of whether or not Allah will accept your deeds (Rabbana taqabbal minna)
  • Engaging in self-scrutiny and fearing any sense of kibr

Allahumma rahmataka arjoo falaa takilnee ilaa nafsee tarfata ‘aynin wa aslih-lee sha’nee kullahu, laa ilaha illa anta

O Allah! It is Your mercy that I hope for so do not leave me in charge of my affairs even for a blink of an eye and rectify for me all of my affairs. None has the right to be worshipped except You.
